
Carrie Kabak: Writer and Production Designer
A book cover designer and former lead production designer at Hallmark Cards, Carrie was commended as an illustrator by Writer’s Digest, named Artist of the Month by the Society of Children’s Writers and Artists, and was a finalist for the Eric Hoffer (Da Vinci Eye) Award for superior cover design. Her clients include Pan Macmillan, Amazon Publishing, CBS Studios (The Bold and the Beautiful series), and Ali Smith Photography for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Bloomsbury, and HarperCollins.
Alongside her design work, Carrie is the author of Cover the Butter (Penguin Random House), an Independent Booksellers’ Pick, AudioFile Magazine Earphones Award winner, and Quill Award nominee. Her latest novel, Shibby Magee: An Irish Tragicomedy, was a Top 50 Bestseller in Sibling Relationships and Contemporary British & Irish Literature, a #1 New Release in Sibling Relationships, a Top 100 bestselling audiobook, featured in Publishers Weekly’s Monthly Spotlight, and a 5-Star Readers’ Favorite. Her work has also appeared in anthologies published by Simon & Schuster, Atria Books, She Writes Press, Seal Press, and North Atlantic Books. Carrie is currently working on two new novels, Effie Jenkins and Mali Morgan’s Summer.
An Irish citizen with family roots in County Roscommon, and also a British citizen with roots in Carmarthen, South Wales, Carrie now lives in Missouri with her chef husband. Together they have five sons, five grandchildren, two Labradors, two cockatiels, and four freshwater aquariums.
